 Swedish band Meshuggah is at the outer edges of the metal genre regarding loudness and roughness. Their sound is clearly inspired by jazz and math rock and the band also one of the most experimental formations in the world. A nigh perfect control over their instruments, raw vocals, harmonic and rhythmic absurdisms and deep, esoteric lyrics all characterize their songs. Their 1991 debut album ‘Contradictions Collapse’ had a number of heavy metal influences (sometimes even bordering on Metallica), but with 1995 release ‘Destroy, Erase, Improve’ they pulled out all the stops for the first time. That album is a true window in time, a classic with a huge impact still being felt today. Ever since then, their discoghraphy has expanded with four more records full of insane rhythms and impossible riffs. We are very pleased to welcome this unique band back to Nijmegen. |
