The legendary American band SLAYER has been on FortaRock before, as in 2012 the band was responsible for a fitting and overwhelming thrash ending to that year’s edition. Slayer has been one of the most beloved metal bands on the planet for years. We are very proud to welcome these four gentlemen back into our midst. In 1986 Slayer had a worldwide breakthrough with the album “Reign in Blood”, which is often regarded as the definitive thrash metal classic. Partly thanks to this album the turned into one of the ‘Big Four’ next to Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax. The band is now as good as in their prime, the shows are incredibly tight and SLAYER is still a shining example to all the young metalheads out there. After the loss of Jeff Hanneman and the departure of Lombardo the band the lineup consists of veterans Tom Araya, Kerry King, Paul Bostaph and Gary Holt. A new album is in the making.
DIMMU BORGIR is one of the most popular black metal bands in the world. The Norwegian band will perform only a few times next year, among which is FortaRock. For this special occasion the legendary album “Death Cult Armageddon” will be performed in full. This 2003 record was recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and is further characterized by Shagrath’s ‘scream’, bass-player Vortex’s clean vocals, endlessly rampaging drums and aggressive guitar riffs combined with symphonic synthesizers.
BLOOD CEREMONY has released no less than three albums since 2006, with 'The Eldritch Dark' from 2013 being the latest. The occult rock of the Canadian band is heavily influenced by bands like Black Sabbath, Coven and Pentagram, yet it clearly sets itself apart from other bands in the genre like Jex Thoth, The Devil’s Blood and Witchcraft. The band’s strength lies in its oppressive dark atmosphere, partly thanks to vocalist Alia O’Brien and the use of a flute that is very much reminiscent of Jethro Tull. The mix of hard rock, old doom metal, obscure folk and alienating psychedelia is flat out exciting.
With Iron Maiden, Slayer, Alter Bridge, Dimmu Borgir, Carcass, Trivium, Sabaton, Behemoth, Ghost, Blood Ceremony and more tba.
